Yup. Have you ever red "Christine" from Stephen King ? I guess it's the same
thing : the 307 has a conscience, like a '57 Plymouth Fury :-)

Seems likely: the self-loathing was too much...
Realised it can never live up its older sister, the 306, and just couldn't
take it anymore.
