Not much is the answer but dealers try to get £300 for them! while
some never sell on Ebay and the local scrappy offered me a tenner.

How / how much should I sell mine for? Ebay want an extorsionate £6
listing and £15 if it sells!! Two weeks internet only ad in Autotrader
is £6 but it's wasted money of no-one buys cars this old.

It's got a year MOT and is in good nick apart from some surface rust
patches on the passenger door and a large rip/wear in the drivers seat.
It starts beautifully - you hardly have to turn the key and it always
gets more than 50mpg - this must be worth a couple hundred quid to some
one?

Is it worth trying to repair the seat rip and spray the door (I suspect
i'm wasting time and money here) These are the only things stopping it
looking very tidy.

When I bought my 306 two years back I had to get rid of my old escort. I
used autotrader online ad only. Cost about £15, but I sold it in less than 3
days, and had a few interested people ring up after it went. I did put it up
for about £200 less than what I wanted as I needed a quick sale.

Use autotrader in my opinion.

The sensible answer for a car like that is its worth what someone will
pay for it...if you can get someone to pay 300 for it then all good,
you'll get more than a tenner for it at least!

I wouldn't advertise solely on the internet (especially ebay), I've got
the feeling from people i know that not many of them would even
consider buying a car on ebay, for whatever reason. I'd stick it in a
couple of local papers, much cheaper and still get good advertising.
As for price, I'd just put in something reasonable you think you can
get away with (£200-250?), and let people beat you down if it'll get
it sold.

Sounds like a good learner/first car type thing, i'd be surprised if
you didnt get any interest.

Its worth stitching up the seat at least (imo), it wont add any value
but it wont cost you anything either, and will stop people being put
off by it. I wouldnt have thought spraying the door would be worth your
while, cos you wont get it to look good without spending money on it.

Just my opinion of course ;)

Replace the seat and do the rust on the door why sell it just because of
a few things,

what do you think

Try a free ads paper. There's one in Bristol (not much use to you but just
for example) called Trade IT www.trade-it.co.uk
Like I said the ads are free and can run for as long as you like. I'd be
tempted to tart it up a bit but realistically probably £300 is a fair price.
Personally I'd jump at a £300 car with a years ticket and some tax. We
bought a Micra for that and threw it away when the MOT was due. The 106
diesel we're running now cost £750 and therefore must last 2 years.
