Right, so as a none-SE car, you don't have the JBL Amp in the boot. In which
case, either the headunit is knackered, or you have some duff wiring
somewhere ! First thing to do is try a different head unit.

ooo forgot to put the se part ooops sorry, wot does that mean?? does that
make it worse??

If you have an SE, then you have a JBL Amplifier in the boot. It's on the
left hand side, in front of the CD Changer. Yours is probably knackered !

If it is that which is the problem is there any way to check to make sure,
and if that is the fault can it be easily replaced?

Aye, you should be able to check with a multimeter, to see if signals are
entering the amp from the headunit, and then leaving the amp in an amplified
form, etc.
