Well my 1994 Xantia XUD tdi has now been driven to southern Italy, with over
160,000 miles up. Never missed a beat. Towed my caravan all over France and
Spain for years. Still on original clutch.
Had a couple of exhaust back boxes, battery, brake pads and discs. I always
changed the engine oil and filter 1500 miles before the book schedule-my pal
who has owned the car for the past three years isn't so particular.
Regular servicing, should go forever.(200,000 miles is common).

I had a K reg 92 Peugeot 205 Diesel turbo 1.8 until recently and it did
201,000 miles. When I got it had 102,000 miles on and the previous owner
used to drive it hard aswell.

I changed the oil and filter, also fuel filter periodically, every 5,000
miles and always used good quality stuff. This is important especially in
older engines as it keeps them in good condition. Obviously the way you
drive them affects them too. I never used to thrash it but would boot it on
motorways as I liked the turbo power. It also helps keep them from sooting
up by giving them a thrashing sometimes, not hard and red lining them but
just using the power and keeping the injectors well used.

It was still going strong when I sold it, only smoking a bit.
Look after your car and it will see you right, diesles are built very robust
and Peugeot diesel engines are especially excellent.
