A friend of mine has an S reg 2.1td.
About 2 weeks back his aux belt broke, caught up in the cam belt (somehow i
dont know) damaged the cam belt and progressed to damage a few valves.

I've subscribed to this newsgroup and within 5 minutes found that this
doesn't seem to be rare.

I'm more electrically minded although autoelectrics is certainly not my
strong point but we seem to have come across a problem.
Everything engine wise has been repaired and put back together, Timing set
etc.
For whatever reason the fuel pump seems to be doing nothing. When you turn
the engine over you get a bit of a dribble then nothing else.
There should be a fuel cut off switch (reset device) under the bonnet but i
can only find a socket, maybe the switch should go here.

key points.

Battery has been off for 10 days, although it is fully charged.
impedance between necessary pins on multipin connector check out ok.

Questions?

Fuel cut off, is it a simple switch, does it need to be switched once to
activate or doe it need to be held down. If its a specialist switch are they
a main dealer only part?

Is there any other electrical sensors and switches that forwhatever reason
would stop the supply of fuel?

anyone any ideas of things to try?  Its already cost him a fortune so we'd
all sooner try a few little thigs first before having to take things apart
again.

Cheers

have the high pressure lines been of?
there might well be some air in them preventing the pump from getting
pressure to the injectors

Other than the red accident switch ( located righthand side near the
windshield, or upstage right as you call it) i'm not sure if there is
any

bleed the fuel lines. ( loosen the lines from the injector, cranck
engine until fuel comes out)

Cheers for that, i'll try them out tomorrow.  As the car is right hand drive
i think the cutoff button is supposed to be upstage left :) (checked with
another 406 the same). but there is only this 2 pole socket there which
makes me think its gone missing. If this is the case it would/could not be a
simple inline switch as theres never been anything connected.

its also nice to see the SNR is alot higher in here than over on aapls at
the moment.  Too many over there not getting fuel to their brains.

sorry for the crippled english,  its the lines "to" the injectors :-)
I now realize it is a 2.1D you are talking about. its an Hdi i was
talking about so indeed the cutoff button might be located elsewere in
the moterbay. feel free to post the results overhere so ppl can google
the archive
