My radio went dead a few weeks ago and I posted to this forum.
Its a clarion radio/cassette with rds etc. bog standard ordinary radio but I
do like the remote stalk and the radio is all I need.

Thanks for the original replies.

It appears that the radio is ok as I purchased a replacement radio (same
model) from ebay. Still no sound. Radio operates from remote stalk and also
directly, with radio channels displayed.

Does anyone know if this is a connector in the dash somewhere that takes the
speaker cables to the various locations. That is to say - speaker connector
to radio - on to an interconnector in the dash to the door speakers and
tweater in the dash. AFAIK, the front speakers and the tweaters are wired up
together, hence only 8 wires in the speaker connector.

Only other option is that the direct speaker connection to the radio has
failed in some way.

Can anyone help

TIA

If you have a multimeter measure the resistance across the pins on the
connector that goes to the speakers for each set of speakers.
(Euroconector??).  It is very likely to be in the range of 2-20 ohms.
Lower than this and there may be a short.  Unlikely to be higher unless it
reads open circuit, and then it is open circuit.  Odd to have happened to
all the speakers at he same time.  Even if you've fried your speakers its
odd not to get some sound out.

You could try touching a couple of wires from a small dry cell battery
across the speaker terminals on the plug, keep it brief to avoid damage.
You should here a click from each speaker.

It does sound like there is another connector somewhere that has become
disconnected.

Thanks Pete

The blasted thing has started up again, for how long I wonder!!!!. Probably
will be dead the next time I try it.

Speakers work fine, so must be a short somewhere.
