:-(

tha pump of my 406 HDi is packing up,
it makes a whining noise,  and it leaks fuel.

Only hope is that it just might be the stop solenoid, but i'm afraid
i'm due for a new/revised pump

anyone any comments or tips?

cheers

What is wrong with the old one, is it just the front bearing? Can it not be
repaired by anyone?

not likely,  diesel is pissing out bigtime, so it's not just the front
bearing, and,  that bearing is prised in so you would have to replace
the whole shaft, plunjers etc
A complete rebuild would cost me almost as much as a new one,
so i just have byte the bullit,

Those will be the fuel lift pump which fits in the tank.

However, it is possible that there are cheaper places to get the high
pressure pumps than Peugeot. Try some diesel injection specialists. Listed
in Yellow Pages.

Before you commit yourself, read Brian's message.   You will need to ensure
that it is the correct pump (i.e. the high pressure one and not the lift
pump).

You can't be wrong, IIRC the lift pump is an immerged type, into the fuel
tank.

I meant before he buys the wrong pump, not that he might have identified the
wrong one.
