"CONNECT" msg on OEM Clarion Audio System (CD)

Hi

Our 306 has a Clarion CDC634 changer in the boot. Following a minor tap in
the rear, it began to display a "CONNECT" msg on the display and eventually
gave up working. The cass & radio are fine as is the stalk controller.

We've just had the changer professionally repaired, and although it plays
and changes CDs eventually, the same msg comes up a few times (and it
reverts to radio) before suddenly working perfectly.

Before I go back to the repair shop, could anyone give me any pointers about
what the problem could be?

Problem with the head unit maybe? The insurance company sent out a car audio
'specialist' to fit a new changer - a CDC628, but it gave a "CONNECT ER2"
msg even with a new cable - so I doubt it's the lead - but what do I know?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Steve

The CONNECT message means that there is a problem with the connection
between the head unit and the CD player. As for where that problem
lies I can't say

Thanks for taking the time to get back me Phil. The repair shop now has the
head unit and the changer. I'll let you know the outcome if you want for
future reference of other AAP NG members. This is bound to happen to someone
else eventually.
