Typically with today being the real first warm day I decided to put
the a/c on in my 2001 306. No cold air like last year at all! Does
this mean it needs recharging and if so what's the likely cost?
TIA
cheers,
Len

Yes it will probabaly need charging, most places will put a dye in the
system, then if it looses pressure again, they will be able to find the
leak.
Cost, Average cost for the service is about £70 + vat

Of course a service is always best, but you can now get the refill canisters
from Halfords etc, for about £30.

Waves.
I used the cheaper tin without a pressure gauge. Its not quite as cold as it
once was but is perfectly good.

Many thanks, I've been quoted 60 + VAT so that seems very good!

Haven't you guys heard of running your AC for 5 minutes, twice a week during
winter?
This keeps the seals on the AC compressor coated in oil and prevents the gas
from leaking out!

I use mine in winter all the time, as dry air will thaw the car
quicker.
You can use it with heat you know, not just cold !

Do a search on this group. Leaking pipes, from corrosion, are VERY
common on the 306. It's normally one or both of the pipes that run
under the radiator.
You'll soon know if you refill and it doesn't last.
