Mine or his? Mine only goes just past 90, then it never goes any
further, and thats with the heater on 0. This is miles from the red on
the gauge. I don't have a problem do I?

My 406 1.9TD 1998 has only one fan working and has been the case since it
was 2 years old. I have at last been able to fault it and establish it is
one faulty fan so I only have cooling on the high speed position (parallel
working) that comes in at just over 90 degrees. they should both come in at
low speed (series working) below 90 degrees. It has not really caused me
any problems as the temprature only rises over 90 when waiting for a long
time in heavy traffic on a very hot day. The thermostat on this car opens at
84 degrees.
I believe that the HDI uses a different arrangement using resistors to
provide slow and high speed fans. They are still subject to electrical
failure due to corrosion so worth a check. In my case you can remove the
plug on the control thermostat and then both fans should kick in.
