hi, my air con's not working, its a 2001 406 2.0 hdi 90. the fans come
on but the compressor clutch wont. i checked the pressure with a guage
and its just on the green/blue mark. i went to halfrauds to get a
refill can, then when i got in the car to come home to top up the air
con was working, so i topped it up and it stayed working, turned car
off went back to it several hours later and it is not working again....
f-ing thing. im getting 12v at the compressor plug with it disconnected
but as soon as i reconnect it i get no volts at all. disconnect it
again and there is 12v again. stripped back the poz wire and put a feed
from the battery and the compressor works.

any ideas

thanks

Interesting, I do regassing and I've come across a few of these which won't
power the compressor with a proper gas charge. If the volts are there, but
clutch is intermittent,  but stays on with separate 12v feed, that would
indicate resistance in the normal compressor clutch feed.

Have you checked the 12v back up the compressor feed wire as far as you can
go (to the loom?) with it plugged in? Some people have said that this cable
breaks. If you find out what it is,  please let us know!

Good luck
