When I turn the key the glow plug relay buzzes and the dash lights go out. Ive fitted new battery and glow plug relay, any ideas? Brian Have you checked you have voltage at the glow plugs when the key is turned. It should remain there for 20 seconds after the key is released. The glow plugs are operated by current so if voltage is present the next check is to remove the plugs if easily done and check that they glow red when 12V is applied. If taking the plugs out is a pig remove the lead to them from the relay and insert a DC ammeter. Have you or can you check the earth it might be that.on my 405 i had the same problem, and found out it was the earth at the box, so i had to rewire earth to diff place, now works fine.good luck. > When I turn the key the glow plug relay buzzes and the dash lights go > out. Ive fitted new battery and glow plug relay, any ideas? If all the lights go out and the starter will not turn, then you have a bad connection to the battery. Check the battery terminals, and the other end of the earth wire to the gearbox, and body. If you have a voltmeter to hand, check the battery volts when someone tries to start it. If the battery does not drop at all, then this confirms the above. I am assuming that there is nothing wrong with the battery of course. Not impossible for a new one to be faulty.
