cam belt change

Hi, Can anyone tell me the correct mileage between cam belt changes on a 1994
306 XRd and I have conficting ideas on leaving the old tensioner and just
changing the belt.any help would be good.Thanks

tensioner as well - it makes economic sense and mechanical sense

If you change both you know its been done ,and you have a timescale
you can be sure of .
If cambelt fails it`s going to cost a lot more than a tensioner !

IIRC for the 106 diesel and the Xantia 1.9TD and of course Pug 1.9 diesels
the interval is 72k miles or more often (eg.36k) if you do a lot of stop
start driving.

Thanks for the replies i think I will change the tensioner as well

And water pump, too. Some of them tend to leak after a short while with the
new belt fit, which involves a new belt, and finally the job done (and paid)
twice.

I have never bothered with the tensioner on those engines, but it does make
sense to replace the water pump as it is so easy to do it at the same time.
