Software for what?  Operating system? Windows 98? NT? XP?

Maybe software for payroll?

Maybe the parts catalogue?

Or maybe even the service manuals?

A clear question can be helpful.  I'm guessing it'll be either of the
last two, but who knows.

As we are talking about cars I thought it was obvious, Not basic end
user software like manuals or operating systems like dr dos,ms dos 3.1
windows 95,98 98se,ME,NT XP Linex or MAC ect or book keeping sage etc
with a gui. The Software used by the dealer to talk to the ECU and BSI
unit and through them the gagits in the car ,from the windows to radio,
brakes airbags, fuel in fact every part of any moden car, it can also
be used for mapping the chip which can help improve MPG BHP etc  I hope
thats clear enough
Thanks for any help..

I doubt that you'll get hold of the Peugeot software, but do a Google search
for OBD2 diagnostics and you'll find at least 10 free software packages that
will enable you to talk to the ECU; you'll need the appropriate hardware of
course and what software you use will depend on what hardware you have.
Check out his eBay auction:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ISO-USB-OBD2-Interface-OBD-2-EOBD-II-diagnostic-new_W0QQit
emZ120052279344QQihZ002QQcategoryZ30921QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

for a reasonably priced interface; the auction links to several software
packages that may do what you want; note that this is an ELM323 based
interface.
Good luck,
Martin.

Now that wasn't at all clear from your original question.  I assumed you
were talking about the Electronic Parts Catalogue and also the Service
Guide Software which you get on eBay.  I hadn't even thought of the OBD
diag software.

As the other guy said - look for various types of OBD software.  Not
used any myself yet so cannot comment on which is best.

Thanks

I believe you need the ISO cables (ELM323?) or universal (EML327) not
the other ones (CAN,VPW etc).  ISO are mainly used by European
manufacturers it seems.

That's what I've worked out over the last few days.
