Not in Tesco's Sunbury, I've used their diesel since the place opened in the early nineties and never a problem. Sludge can be pumped out in any filling station if the level in their tank gets too low or the tank has just been filled from a tanker without allowing time to settle. Well I have used Tesco and other supermarket fuel for many years now, and never had a prolem. Interesting that PhilC talks of problems in the West Byfleet Esso station after it was "taken over" by Tescos. As far as I can see the fuel sold there is still Esso according to the signs, it's just that there is a Tesco Metro store there too. Any other petrol stations marked as being Tesco (eg. Tesco Express) are actually Esso fuel. It was probably just a coincidence about the fuel contamination and Tesco's takeover of the site. Although it was a serious enough problem for them to have the tank or tanks cleaned. The site is owned/leased and controlled by Tesco's not just the Tesco Metro - my original comments regarding the problems Tesco cause their suppliers is still relevant. PhilC > So where is all this bad diesel? No idea. Very rarely fuel at Tesco. Sainsbury's Durham though... The stuff they sell as "super" unleaded at 85.9p/litre is rocket fuel. On a blind test (my dad fuelling my car without me knowing) I guessed the good stuff. It's The Tits. At £1.20/tank extra (I drive a 406) it's worth every penny. John
