I just wanted to check something.
I had some trouble getting all the plugs out from our Peugeot 306 1.4
(1998) due to the position of the injectors/air inlet (big plastic thing
which air filter goes into and curves down into the the cylinder, next
to the plugs. I think I got 3 out, but couldn't get all 4 out.
Anyway, due to that being in the way, and not knowing how to remove it
properly, I asked a garage to change the plugs when they were doing
something else. I asked for them back so I could see their state.
This was a while ago, and since stopped using that garage due to being
unhappy with their work. I'm preparing to change the plugs again
(myself this time hopefully) and went to my local factors who supplied
me with 4x NGK BKR6EZ. This is a single electrode plug, and is listed
as the correct plug for this model on NGK's website.
The issue is though, I'm now looking at the old plugs and noticed that
they're double electrode ones - specifically NGK BKR5EK. Whilst they
seem the same size, I'm a bit surprised to find double electrode plugs
were used before - especially when NGK don't recommend them for this
engine. The previous service would have been done by Peugeot
themselves, so the plugs are either:
1.) Fitted by Peugeot themselves, even though they're not the
recommended ones
2.) Changed by the garage, but the wrong ones were returned to me
3.) Not changed by the garage, and someone else's plugs returned me
So, which seems the most likely? Are these plugs actually okay (ie.
would Peugeot have fitted them), or was it 2.) or 3.) then?
Finally - any suggestions how to get the plugs out - I'm wondering
whether an articulated plug remover would be useful. Before I used a
socket set with a plug socket on it - but I think with an extender,
hence not being able to get into the gap between head and air inlet stuff.

hi there mate i had similar probs with removal of plugs but im a bit on
the mechanical side so sorted it.
when changing spark plugs dont use garages !!!!
do not take the injectors out!!!! there a bit tricky to get back in.
get a 14mm spark plug socket out of your set and the flexable socket
bit (the thing that u connect to the socket to tighten things at
angles) put these together followed by and extension and then the
rachet.
spray a bit of wd-40 down there, just a little though not so it starts
to fill.
when u slot the socket in the head ul notice that the angle socket bit
is flush with the head :)
now undo but do it gently, my sparks in my car were original from
manufacture so i undun it a little then tighten it a little then undun
it all the way just so it lossens up and the wd-40 gets into the thread
because you dont want to thread that head!!!!!!!
i replaced the spark plugs with the Bosch quad tips ?30 from halfords
(made a big impovment in acceleration), do not use the fine platinum
electrode ones because my friend has a 306 gti 6 and put these in and
he does not recommend them as he kept having problems.
