peugeot 106 FAN test

Hello, Does anyone know how I can test the radiator(cooling system)
fan of a peugeot 106.

Haynes says first run the engine up to normal temp then allow it to
idle. The fan should cut in before the needle reaches the red. If not
disconnect the wiring plug from the cooling fan switch and bridge the
contacts in the plug with wire. The fan should now start. If it does the
switch (temperature) is probably faulty. If not then check for voltage
on the plug etc.
