Loud beep when stereo is on

i have a peugeot 206glx 1.4 with a clarion tape deck up front and a 6
disc changer in boot. every time i turn on the radio a continuous beep
comes through the speakers and i cant get rid of it. please help

Your problem is with the radio. These systems when having remote controls
for such things as volume use an audio oscillator to time the changes on the
controls, this is the noise you can hear. Unfortunately this is a radio
repair. Peugeot main dealers did do a fixed price repair for these radios.
When mine went at 18 months old it cost £50 but this was 6 years ago.
