Hi,
how old is the car and does it have an alarm or immobiliser fitted or both
maybe.
You said 205 in the subject and 206 in the post i take it its a 206.

Sounds like to me the alarm.and the immobiliser has put a stop to it
starting.

if when you bought it you got both keys, then try and see if it will start
with the other key. The immobiliser works with a chip thats in the key fob,
maybe the one in your key is playing up.
Hope that makes sense

This happened on a new 307 when it was delivered to a company my nephew
works at. Called out the AA man who disconnected the battery for a few
minutes, then reconnected it. Wait a couple of minutes, and hey presto it
started.
Also read elsewhere that you remove the shunt fuse in the passenger
compartment fuse box while the key is NOT in the ignition.
