I'm trying to remove the oil filter cover on a Pug 1.1 LX.
(Y plate).

The cover seems very tight and is a bugger to get at. I'm
a bit wary of damaging the cover with too much force.

What size socket is the correct one or would I be
better off using a strap device to get the cover off with?
Is there room for a strap device??

Thanks - Harry

Ok I did it. 27 mm and it does indeed need a
bit of force. There are also several different
filters in use for the same block.

And I'll just add it doesn't need to be tightened too much! Just till
the filter housing stops then a gnat's thingy after that. And that is
very important on the later petrol engine filters, because you can
damage the filter and the oil pressure light comes on! Always renew
the seal which should come with the filter.
