It is beginning to sound like the only way you are going to find out if it
is the belt or not is to replace it. At best it will cure it and at worst
it will be eliminated.

The belt is not very old, i have done down to the coast and back
tonight with out any proplem. no rattle when starting up from cold.so i
have to wait till the morning and see if it rattles then. it only does
it for about 10-15 sec.

Another probably silly thought then. Is it a pattern belt or a genuine Pug
one? I have known things like that to have an effect, particularly with
inkjet cartridges but the principle is the same.
