Ok, found the engine code for my 306, it's D8A. I'm suspecting a
problem with the injectors as it runs rather lumpy until warm and is
poor on fuel.
Looking on www.uniteddiesel.co.uk the code for the injectors is
KCA30S42, yet looking on the injectors in my car, they seem to have
KCA17S42 on them. Are these the right ones for the car, or should I
trust the uniteddiesel site?

Why the expense of new injectors? The injectors on the XUD engines can be
overhauled by any diesel fuel injection specialist. Worst case you would
need new nozzles.
But better still, the specialist will test them and tell you if they need
work. Just look up diesel fuel injection in yellow pages.
