405 mark II heater matrix connection leak

Hi Well here we are again! This time with a Mark II 405 TD.
There's just beginning to be an occasional drip, especially on a cold
morning.

I've had the matrix out twice before, BUT on Mark Is, AND I hear
Mark IIs are a pig. I've got the glove box out by removing the hinge
pins (easy) and I can see the metal feeder tubes and the connection to
the matrix. The first thing I want to try is just tightening the
connection or replacing the o rings. But what do I do next?

Some say you can drill out the glove box frame and get further with a
bit of cutting here and there. I'm not against cutting out part of the
lower fascia and gluing it back after.

But I'd love to hear from someone who has actually done this.
The alternative - 12 hours to take out the whole fascia etc etc -- is
beyond me.

Thanks.

Has anyone dealt with a 405 Mark II heater matrix leak, please?
Thanks.

Yes i have . what you have to make sure is that the o-rings stay in
place as you put heater pipes back to matrix.i found a little grease
helped to hold then in place, and keep checking then do the screw up
tight while still checking the o-ring.its a pain of a job, good luck

You dont have to cut and glue any thing.Remove the glovebox, remove the
facia centre side trim panel screws and clips, remove the screws
securing the heater pipes and the retaining screws from the matrix.then
remove the heater pipes, release the 3 retaining clips and withdraw the
matrix.
good luck chris

Thanks. That's really helpful.
You said you don't have to remove anything ... but did you need to take
out the glove box frame by drilling the rivets?
Thanks again.

When I did mine I think that I remember having to loosen some nuts
fixing the lhs of the console, so that I could move things around a few
mm.
