Has anyone had to replace the brake servo on a 306 1998 model?  I hav
seen from other postings that it has 4 bolts securing it to th
bulkhead and that these may require access from the underside of th
dashboard.
What else does the replacing entail?  Do I have to remove the brak
master cylinder and therefore bleed the stsem afterwards?  How lon
does the job take
Any experience would be appreciated.  I am new to this forum as it i
my daughters car and I have yet to see under the bonnet!!  Sh
reports a hissing sound from front which used to be only when he
foot was off the brake, but now is there all the time.  Faulty serv
or split pipe?

I have used a Ford forum site in the past and found it so useful...
even posted a blow by blow account on how to replace the temperatur
sensor, complete with photos, which is now included in the FAQ's
Ther was previously so much confusion on this item that th epost wa
long overdue
Anyway, help on this brake servo would be much appreciated

Before removing the servo check all the pipes as if it is just a pipe
its better to replace a pipe than to remove the servo,

Thanks for the advise - had planned to do that.
Do you know what is involved in replacing the servo if it is tha
which has failed

Is the brake pedal very hard to push down ??it might be just a case of
split pipe or a where  the pipe goes into the servo the plastic bit
might have a split in it.or rubber has worn out .

The servo is held in by four nuts, not very easy to get at but not too
bad. However the master cylinder needs to be removed from the servo.
Now it is possible and I have done it, to remove the cylinder without
disconnecting any pipes, but you have to be careful. It is better to
disconnect and remove, but you must bleed afterward.

That is exactly the information I was looking fo
- thank you very much.  Will probably remove the master cylinder an
then bleed the system afterwards.  Gives me an opportunity to replac
the brake fluid at the same time
Many thanks again
