Hi
307SW HDI 90 - 2003:
Had ABS warning fault light come on last week on way visiting Portsmouth and
then went away once stopped there for a couple of hours and came home. Not
come back on since. Took to usual Puegeot dealer today and said fault with
Rear OS sensor, but as intermittent was probably in wire which would need
fuel tank removing to fix and hence a bit costly, but don't have it done
unless light comes on again. They said it was not dirty but an electrical
problem when I asked whether it just needed cleaning.
Should I get a second opinion?
Thanks
Paul

I think your dealer is a bit confused. The sensor wire on a 307 is
easily changed without dropping the tank (like on the 407 for
example). But I would have thought an intermittent fault would be
caused by dirt on the pickup or the ring. However renewing the wire
would be the easiest option as it would cure both potential problems.
As I recall the sensor wire is around £40 and no more than 30 minutes
to change including clearing the faults from the ECU memory.

Hi
Thanks very much. The diagram shown here does show a wire going up over
the fuel tank. Is the wire that they are referring to?. Is the sensor
wire you were thinking of between the part 7015 and the wheel?

Hmmm. Not the best wiring diagram I've seen! 7015 refers to the sensor
pickup on the schematic, but on the installation diagram it points to
the connector! The fuel tank is in front of the axle on the 307 and
does not get in the way of that connector. So what you get from your
dealer is the pickup from the wheel and the wiring to the connector
which is two wire grey type.

Well, its not intermittent any more.  ABS warning light goes off at
ignition time, always comes back on with a beep and message at 30mph.
