I heard from a guy I now work with that he knows someone with a 80 Firebird
for 500 dollars.....

it was a V6, but when that engine went, a 400 was put in its place...

and its got high mileage, at least on the body....

is it worth it?

A Z code 6.6? In 1980? Both the Olds and the Pontiac engines were gone by
1980, 79s only got the leftover 78 ponchos.

Not joining the slamfest about to start but I think you mean a 4.9. But I
could be wrong.

Went back and read the whole thread, 400 was a drop in.

See, I told you I could be wrong. ;^)

Both the 6.6 vin K Olds 403 and the 400 vin Z Pontiac were last used in 1979.
The 1979 400 engines were 1977 and 1978 casted leftovers. In '79, the 400 vin Z
was only used in the Pontiac F body car.

The 301 vin W engine starts in 1978 in many Pontiacs, 1979 in the Firebird and
ends in 1981 in all Pontiacs. The 301 vin Y 2 bbl engine was used from 1977 to
1979 in various Pontiacs.

The 4.9 vin T turbo was only used in various Firebird models from 1980 to 1981.
The vin S 265 4.3 V8 was used in various Pontiacs in 1980 and 1981.

That's basic Pontiac V8 engine wrapup from the late 70's and early 80's.

The last Pontiac V8 was made in 1981. To me, it's the last time Pontiac made a
car with original Pontiac identity :).

I'm thinking of getting a run of t shirts for working on the car and when
I'm at the track Would it be too obnoxious if they had a small 2nd gen
profile on the front (where the pocket would be) and a larger image on the
back with "Pontiac Used To Build Excitement" under the car?  ;^)

I would have meant a 4.9 if I had not been told that it was a V6 car that
someone replace the old 6 cylinder with a 400

never said it was the original engine :)

Which would be when 2010? 2050? BTW as soon as the rain stops you will
be getting your damage bill. Plus you still haven't paided for your pull out
yet.

Perdy much has been in SW Ohio. Only a couple of dry days this year.
Still too soft to go walking back where some idiot tore the lawn up. What
sort of stupid f.ck tries to make a U-turn in a snow covered back lawn? Let
alone when there is 15 inches of snow?

Not to mention what sort of dumb f.ck can't even drive it on the packed
snow street once it is free?

Hell the guy who did drive it out for him gets stuck just walking in the
snow.

Considering you can't work on what you already own. Let alone drive what
you already own, Leave it for people who can

Who knows?  Sounds like the car is a basket case.  The engine could be in need
of a rebuild or was rebuilt by somebody that didn't know what the hell they
were doing.

Being a 80 Firebird its never going to be worth anything unless it was in
mint, low mileage condition.
