I've had my car in my garage since the day I bought my house 4 years ago
because I blew the tranny on the way over here to park it.
But thats another story.

It's a top of the line fully loaded 88 t/bar/air with a 700r4.  I thought
the problem originally was it wouldn't go into reverse, but it seems more
like it won't go out of drive, since it has no neutral and still seems in
drive when putting it in park.

Looks like it might be just as simple to replace it with one from the
wreckers, instead of tearing this one apart but if I'm going to do that,
wouldn't be make more sense to put in a 5 speed or six speed manual?  They
never made the 350 with manual and would be a big bonus.

Anyone want to chime in with what they think of this idea.  What would be a
suitable replacement.  Any issues with torgque and stress due to having
t-bar's.  Rust isn't an issue.

I'm assuming a newing manual tranny can handle the 350.

Thanks to all who reply.

Go to the TKO transmissions site and peruse their T-56 or newer
trannys.  The WC or non WC T-5 doesn't have the rating for your 350ci.
They have bolt in kits for 3rd gen f-bodies.

Replacing the auto with a manual is a great idea, just do all of the
research before starting the project.  Including ECM, brackets,
replacement pedals, hydraulics, subframe connectors, shifter(because
you don't want the factory one), dash cluster, bushings and mounts,
local laws, etc..  If you can find one, get a factory assembly manual
as everything you need to know about how things go together are in
that book or CD.
