catalytic converter issue

there is good news and bad news........engine service light turned on so i took to get it checked and found out it was the catalytic converter and mechanic told me it costs about 800.00 bucks to fix.....f.ck that......thats the bad news.............the good news is my 1999 Firebird Formula is under warranty from GM for that part it says in the manual Catalytic converter is under warranty for up to 8 years or under 80,000 miles which ever comes first.............well my car is just 1700 miles under 80,000 so it is covered..............im taking it to the nearest GM dealer and getting fixed.........im taking it to Mark Christopher they'll do i

Sounds like you hit some luck.  However, that $800 sounds a little high
to me to replace the cat.  Was that at a full service mechanic?  You
will usually get much better pricing on anything exhaust related at a
shop that does nothing but exhaust work.  However, since your in the
emmisions warranty you should make the dealer do it.
