Did it run before?

Does the engine crank and not start, or not crank at all?

How much of the interior is removed?

Automatic or manual transmission?

neutral safety switch?  Prevents the car from cranking unless
it is in park or neutral...

Do other things come on when you turn the ignition switch to "run"?

With the carpet missing it would have been really easy to knock the
plug loose from the neutral safety switch.  Definitely start there.
Is it plugged in?  Will the engine crank in neutral instead of park?
Do you know what the neutral safety switch is?

If it's still plugged in, what happens when you turn the key from off
to on?  Dash lights?  Check engine light?  Does the fuel pump cycle?
Check it out and tell us everything you see.

hey guys thanks for the tips, i actually found some of the problems
that you guys listed before i checked the mail. i got the safety
switch on the bottom of the e brake is there and other ones around the
shifter that i should know of? but i am pretty sure i found out the
problem. i led it to bed the starter i will explain.  The car has
total power when i turn the key to on. full dash lights power to trunk
switch i have heater motor and A/C. So i tried to jump the starter
from underneath but all i got was a very small click. so i tapped the
starter witch a ratched tried jumping it again and the solenoid hit
but didnt spin the shaft. tried it again and nothing.  so i took the
starter out tested it and the starter is either frozen or just broke.
just waiting on another starter. would love to hear your opinions.
thanks joe
