I have a 1970 camaro with a 350 in it. It has the original points
Distributor. I would like to replace it with a GM HEI set up. Anybody know
the correct type I need to make the switch? Does in matter what year car I
get the unit from? Also what is the proper way to wire it up to this year
car. Thanks for any advice or comments

Any Chevy V8 HEI distributor that is pre computer will work. You will
just need to run a ignition on hot wire to it so it will have the full
12 volts. A pretty simple swap.
And FWIW..I believe it's Pertrox (sic) that makes a transistor setup
that goes in the stock distributor. I've heard good things about it as
well.
Good luck

Pertronix is the name of the company, and yes it converts the breaker type
ignition to solid state and retains the stock appearance.
Most auto parts stores sell this conversion kit.
