Hello,

I believe me serp belt is going out.  It is so loud and keeps sqeaking.  I
noticed some cracks in the belt and am thinking I should replace it.  Would
this be hard for a novice?  Ive worked on cars before, but i really just
learn as I go with some direction.  What kind of tool would i need?  How
much am I looking at total cost to do it myself?

I get all automotive parts at cost so im thinking it will be really cheap...
i hope.  (Ya.. its good to know people in the business :P )

Any help would be appreicated :)

Thank you!
Matt

If its a 3800 without the motor mount blocking the belt, its about 95
seconds to R & R.

The belt tensioner is spring loaded and has either an 18mm ( ?)  nut or
a 3/8 sqaure drive for a ratchet or a swing bar. Which ever it is, pull
up or push down to take the tension off the belt.

Do it BEFORE the belt breaks. Mine broke and actually damaged my AC
compressor when bits of it and the pulleys went flying.
