Non-binary (text only) newsgroup etiquette:

1) Do not post pictures.  If you absolutely must post a sig, then keep it small.
A line or two of text only.  Many isp's charge by the byte or by the minute.
  Not everyone has RoadRunner.
2) Do not ask that we email you with the info.  Others may have the same problem
and find the info useful.  If you post here, then read here.
3) Research first.  Use GOOGLE.
You will find hundreds or thousands of links to your exact problem.

WebTv, AOL, and Talkaboutautos users and thier ilk don't care.  "Gimme gimme
gimme" seems to be thier motto.  Can't be bothered to do a simple Google
search on NGs or look anything up themselves, and want the answer shipped
directly to thier door.  Don't want to get involved and maybe learn
something from a newsgroup, or even come back and share what fix worked,
just want a quick fix and screw you.

Recently I reloaded my comp and started seeing all the posts I had
previously blocked.  I think I'll go back to dogging the twits.  Heck,
everyone needs a hobby.  <grins>

Yes. And your hobby seems to be annoying people on a constant basis on this
newsgroup. Grow up and get a life. All you do is 'report spam', like that
does anything, and bitch at people instead of helping them. Some people do
not mind repeating an answer a few times. If you mind, then shut up and
don't answer the post. I myself have answered a few posts with answers *I*
have seen that had been repeated here. You see, information keeps being
passed around. That is how we all help each other. Not by being rude. You
are also turning people away from this group who could become great sources
of information some day. Look what would have happened if you had of bitched
out someone like 'Shep' or 'Steve Mackie', just to name a couple. We would
have lost two very good people who like to help.

Don't like it, don't read my posts.  Think this NG is pretty free of spam
just by luck?  I "bitch out" morons.  I try and show how answers can be
found.  Since you mention it, take a close look at who I dog out.  Is it
people with real problems who give honest info wanting help after trying to
help themselves?  No, it's asshats who are either making up BS to see if
they get a response, dumbasses who can't be bothered to even mention what
kind of car thier inarticulate babbling is about, or spammers. Get over
yourself.

You think its from you? Think again. I don't see most spam that is posted
until *you* respond to it. You see, some people filter out such things.

Telling someone to go to there library and search through schematics books
when there are people here who know the answer right off and are more then
happy to answer does not help anyone.

Nope, you basically bitch out anyone who is either on WebTV or on Talkabout
Autos. Either way, I can't see how doing that helps you. The last person for
example, just wanted to know if the CD player in a G6 is MP3 compatible.
Just because you do not know, does not mean no one here does.

Gee, looking it up on the Pontiac website, logging into the local libraries
auto repair database, or doing a Google search before asking is too much?
After years I am tired of lazy incoherent losers who can't be bothered to
even try helping themselves, learning anything, or even sharing a fix if
they finally find one.

I wonder.  You claim I have nothing better to do.  What is your deal bud?
Why don't you just block my posts?  BTW, ignoring spammers doesn't make them
go away.  Making them lose email accounts, hosting, and posting privileges
does.  Making a point of it discourages would-be spammers. I will say what I
feel like saying and call a spade a spade.  You want a nice PC world?
Tough.  This is Usenet, one of the last bastions of free speech.  I have the
right to say what I want.  You have the right to agree, disagree, or plonk
me.  I have enjoyed your posts in the past and am sorry you don't like my
attitude.  But my atiitude is what it is and will remain the same.  I have
no use for cats who want spoonfeeding instead of learning.

Just for the hell of it;

In this instance, yes it is. I took a look on Pontiac's website, and could
not find a mention of whether it was MP3 compatible or not. As for other
post's, if everyone found what they wanted in a library, then this group
would not need to be here. Haven't you ever needed an answer at 2am? I sure
have, and have gotten it here.

I can give you a point there. I too think it is damned rude to come here
with a problem, get some suggestions, and never show up again to tell
everyone what fixed it. That defeats the purpose of the group, but you have
to admit, not everyone is like that.

> I wonder.  You claim I have nothing better to do.  What is your deal bud?

I have never blocked anyone in my entire time on Usenet, and I do not plan
on starting now. See, I don't think you are a bad person, I just think you
are getting too pissed off by the newbies on this group. All I am suggesting
is let it go. Just respond to the ones you consider deserve a reply, and let
the others sit there. If someone wants to chirp in and answer, so be it. If
not, then no biggie. Its just when you insult people, it does not help
anyone.

> BTW, ignoring spammers doesn't make them

You have to admit though, a hardcore spammer does not care if they loose
there account. They will always find others. And, like I said before, some
newsreaders filter out the stuff already, so some people come on here and
all they see is your message saying you have reported them.

Yes, that is true you do. All I am saying is take it easy. Don't judge
people just because they are on WebTV, or Talkabout Autos or what ever.
Don't judge someone who cant type English as well as you or I can. If you
don't like what they have wrote, just ignore it, and like I said, either
someone else will pipe in and give them an answer, or they won't get one.
Either way, I think it would be better for you if you just let them go. I
honestly mean that in a nice way too.

That is your opinion and you have a right to it. I just think our definition
of 'spoonfeeding' differs.

> Just for the hell of it;

I can honestly say I have never heard of him lol Feel free to let me in.

Naw. That's just me and FBR going at it again. Don't let it bother you. As
for your problem, what engine do you have? Always give the engine in your
car in the post as it makes things easier. Many models have several
different engines as options.

As for a Code 42, I may not be on the right ball here, but this is what I
can find on it:
- Electronic spark timing (EST) circuit - Open or Shorted.
- Direct ignition system (DIS) fault - Bypass circuit Open or Shorted to
ground during engine run.
- Fuel cutoff relay circuit - Open or Shorted to Ground.

Like I said, give us the engine details as well as the symptoms of what the
car is doing and people will be able to help a lot better. Sometimes a code,
is just a code. :)
