i hear a terrible grinding sound when i apply my brakes it is definitely
the passenger rear. what kind of damage to the brakes would cause all this
noise. i also have brown powder stuff all over the wheel and hub cap. do
you think i may have done more damage by driving it like this. thanks

Take the car into a shop and have it looked at.  You likely need new pads
and rotors.

get a brake job before your brakes fail totally.
