removing the driver side door

When removing the driver side door on a 1988 Firebird, do you have to
remove the front fender first to get at the bolts etc. It seems to be
the best way but a book I looked at didn't mention that part.

What do the experts do?

It might be possible but likely so much more difficult that it's worth
removing the fender.
