okay i am starting to get confused about something i thought i was on the
right track on,94 pon.grand prix(3.4) with automatic shift in floor consule,
am getting a (prndl) trouble code and car has developed a syptom of engaging
the key to start, but absolutly nothing till you jiggle the gear shifter
around a few times(in park and neutral)then it seems to catch and start,i
assumed it was the neytral/safety switch located on the trans hump that has
a wire plug in and the gear shift linkage attached to the top bolt, upon
talking to quite a few parts places they keep coming up with switchs on the
steering column, saying the trans hump switch has quite a few plug in's and
wireing harness's to it,what is going on i thought it was as simple as the
switch on the trans hump with one or two plug in's and disconnection of the
cable linkage, once again the car runs fine, shifts okay once in drive and it
only seems dead upon staring with key engaged till you jiggle and mess with
gear shifter meaning jiggling the switch till it engages(RIGHT?)what am i
missing with steering switches and multiple plug in's and  wirering
harnesses??    bob

Depending on the trans, the n-s switch is either on or in the trans.

PRNDL switch on that vehicle is on the tranny. At least it was on my
94 Pontiac.
