Being a Pontiac fan and owner I have come to realize that pontiacs have
simply become dead weight. The thrill is gone. No more excitement. I just
looked at a pic of the 2009.5 G6 and the front end looks like the 2 buck
teeth of Bugs Bunny, the car looks like a rabbit, and not the VW type.
Bonneville is dead and gone and the G8 is a foreign car....whats left?
Yep...its time to turn out the lights. Its been a good run. The old Bonnies,
Catelinas, Grand Prixs  and GTOs deserve there claim to fame, but they are
only now left for the history books. I think pontiac is dead but just not
yet laid to rest.

I highly disagree.  Pontiac has some damned nice cars.  The G6 and G8 are
only two of them.  I would get rid of Chevy, Buick, and Saturn long before
Pontiac.

Chevy is GMs mainstay and that aint going nowhere, Buick is the drop down
from Caddilac, Daddy is going nowhere and Buick has to many good reviews
right now as a world class car so it will probably stay. Saturn is free to
go at any time so tat leaves pontiac as the second choice to axe if it comes
to that. I am not saying G6 is not a good car but style wise its boring. The
sedan looks to blah like a womens car and the coupe looks like boy racer
type thing with buck tooth grill. The convertible is the best looker as long
as the top is up, but looks like a bath tub with the top down.

I would keep Chevy as a truck only division, make GMC only produce
commercial vehicles, re-badge all Chevy's as Pontiac's, and dump Buick.  Or,
put all trucks under GMC, keep Chevy as the "cheaper" cars, Cadillac as the
expensive cars, give all the rest to Pontiac, and dump Buick.  Yes, they
have had (and still do) have some very nice vehicles, but I would much
rather Pontiac stay.  How are we ever to get another Pontiac Trans Am if
Pontiac is gone?  ;-)

On 12/10, UPI  ran a story on the proposed demise of Saturn and the
uproar on the web of Saturn owners.  From that news item "Two decades
after founding the Saturn brand, GM is considering eliminating the
Saturn, Pontiac, Saab and Hummer brands in favor of concentrating
resources on its Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC brands, CNN
reported."  To view the full item, see

With that said, Pontiac has tried to remake itself with the G cars and
the Soltice.  The problem it has walked away from its history (as
compared to Ford and the Mustang), the GTO marketing was a flop
(didn't anyone learn from the Aztec?)

Seems from the bigger plan the cost of buying out Pontiac dealers is
to throw them the GMC brand (in these times, can a deal live off of
selling just GMC?)
Leaving us tin indian fans out in the back field with the Olds,
Plymouth and Packard fans.

So, if you love your Pontiac start stocking up on NOS parts for the
excitment will never the wide-track path come again!

UGH!!!! How can they do this??? Why don't they kill off BUICK already? What
is the demographic for this brand? Who buys them??? Pontiac sells a lot of
vehicles. It is a popular brand. I say: meld Saturn and Pontiac. Dump Buick.
Move all truck/suv/van stuff to GMC. Chevrolet keeps the core car business.

Does this make sense????

Makes a lot of sense to me.  Upper execs of all companies live in another dimension.  What
they do does not make sense to mortals like us.

Yes nice, but not exciting.

I guess you've never driven a G8 then ;-)
