Hello, Im hoping someone here can help me out. I need to know why my car
is making a "clunk" when I hit the brakes. The car is an 84 Pontiac
Parisienne. Everytime I hit the brakes, I hear and feel a "clunk" that
seems to be coming from the drivers wheel area. It happens sometimes
when I make a slow turn as well. Can anyone tell me what I should look
into changing? Its starting to scare me a little. Thanks

could be quite a few things, from a bad shock to bushings in control arm, or
a bad ball joint. How are the front tires wearing?

thanks for the reply. The front tires are wearing normally...not bald on
the inside or anything.

Sorry I am not much help, but without actually driving the car myself it is
hard to say what it is. But I can say that when it comes to front end type
stuff, you don't want to mess around. Take it to a decent shop. If the work
is going to be more taht a couple hundred dollars, I might even take it to
another shop to get a second oppinion, but don't tell the second shop that
they are doing a second opinion. If there diagnosis is the same, then you
can go from there.
