2000 GTP - Odd problems

The car has 88k miles on it. Never ran very hard.

Problem 1
About 2 years ago it started surging when I put it under a little
load. Like climbing a hill at freeway speeds. The tach will bounce 100
to 500 RPM down. ( I don't feel it is the trans, it would bounce up if
the torque converter was slipping). Now it does it at speeds as low as
30 when climbing a hill. If I step further down on the throttle to
increase my speed, it feels good.

I've had it the shop 3 times.

1st time - 11/9/07. Mileage 74k. Major fuel service. Flush, clean
injectors, New fuel filters.
This did not help.

2nd time - 11/12/07. Found carbon tracking on the wires.  Replaced
wires, a couple of coils, and the plugs.

3rd time
They could find nothing wrong. No charge for that visit

This worked for about a year. Now it is doing it again.  Grr

Problem 2
The exterior temp readout has went wacky. It will read 126 deg. When
it is in this state, the only way I can get heat is if I turn the temp
to the max (90) Then it roasts me out.
Sometimes, it will start high, then come down to the ambient
temperature, other times, not. If it drops the readout to 100 or less,
the temp control works just fine.
This is driving me buggy

Any Ideas?  I really like the car, but am considering dumping it

Email address is valid if you dump the obvious

Thanks for any ideas you can provide

Only a crank position sensor. And that was changed out.
For the current problems, the light stays off.
