hi,

my 04 lasabre died yesterday and i want to check to see if the throttle
position sensor is mechanically ok so i can try to get the car to a shop
to read the flashing service engine lite codes.  however, it has
"security" screws holding it in place.  how can i remove the tps and/or
where can i get the tool?

tia,

HI.
alt.autos.gm might be a better group.  Few people post or read .pontiac any more.
The screws...
Aren't they ordinary torx 10 ?
It would be better to check the tps ON the car.

Those things!  I got a set of about 60 tips 1/4" diameter hex for my air ratchet
from Home Depot a few years ago.  I think it was $20.  The ones I have are hex
but have a hole in the center for the post.

Might not help, but what was the last engine repair you had done?
or: what was the last thing done to the car before it "died"?

A website is a place, where, when you go there, it does everything
possible to distract you, from finding the information you came there
to see.- E.W.

never had issue, (other than dash needles which was fixed 2 months ago),
before this.

There's a good reason to recheck areas of recent repair,
experience has shown, while one thing get fixed often other
areas, like wiring are "disturbed" or broken. I can tell you
that so many times one repair has lead to other items being
"broken" or made unreliable around the previous repair area.
Not saying this is the problem in your car, but worth checking
all the electrical connections around the area where the dash
needles were "fixed".
