The steering seems s bit loose on my 1979 911. I can hold the wheel and move it up and down about 1/8"... is there a way to tighten the steering post? thanks  SignatureLife is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once. just a guess - there is an upper bearing - I don't remember how they are adjusted, I suspect if you push the wheel towards the front of the car the free play will go away, if so, then just figure out how to adjust - > The steering seems s bit loose on my 1979 911. Pelican Parts has it at http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_MISCLL_pg13.htm#item62 To replace, you just need to remove the steering wheel, pick out any broken plastic bits and tap in the new bushing.
