in regards to being a daily driver...

how cumbersome, in your opinion, is a Manual 911...vs a Tiptronic?

I drive a manual 993 daily in LA traffic - no problem - but if you are used
to an automatic, maybe you should consider a lexus or mercedes which are
nice luxury cars

I would say it's up to you.  Most "average" drivers can turn better lap
times with a Tiptronic than a manual, and there is a demand for Tiptronic
vehicles, so it's not like when you sell it people only want manuals.  Also,
while a manual can be fun to drive, and is considered the "proper" way to
shift a sports car like a Porsche, if you get stuck in bumper to bumper
traffic you will bless the day you decided on the Tiptronic.

Again, while not being "proper," you really have the best of both worlds.
And for those who don't believe in automatic shifters, think about all the
high-end cars that are clutchless and use paddle shifters, like Formula One
cars.

Good to see this topic. I thought that I'd (:)] bring up Sportomatic,
which was the manual transmission unit [various speed combinations]
with a semiautomatic clutch (used ONLY stop/start; VW counterpart
"autostickshift" had NO manual clutch).
That was the 1968-1980 one, which most here know.
