Well, I've been lurking and reading a lot for many months now.  Thanks
for all the advice, everybody.

Near my home is a vintage Porsche place called Westside MotorSports,
in Venice, California.  I was wondering if anybody here has had any
dealings with them?  They certainly seem like good people - I'd like
to buy from them if possible, partly because I like to support local
businesses but also because they have a service department that only
services cars they sell.  It's literally walking distance from my
house so any service issues would be really easy to cope with for me.

Thanks in a advance.

They seem to have no Web Page. How can they expect to compete with
Beverly Hills Porsche.  ;-)

Right now I'm looking at that '76 912.  I had a '68 912 and honestly
I liked it more than the later 911's I had. It seemed more reliable
and more fun to drive.  Of course the 911's have better handling and
power, but there was something about that 912 I'll remember forever.
Maybe I'm trying to recapture my youth?  ;-)  To me the 911 is more
of a race car that really needs constant maintenance to keep it in
top condition. And a lot more expensive for parts.

After learning a little more, I would say beware:

Good luck.

I took a look at their Web Page and just looking at the customer's photos
told me to stay away.  Most look like they wouldn't know a Porsche from a
hole in a doughnut.  That type of "dealership" isn't one I'd put much
trust in.
