Driver's side mirror issue

Hello.  81 SC.

Both mirrors work well, but the "pivot" on the driver's side has come
loose.  This is the part that allows the mirror to swivel out of the
way if you're in a tight driveway or something.  I noticed the mirror
was wobbling quite a bit so I had a look and the top part now can lift
off the post it's sitting on.  There's a brass colored post coming out
of the car which has a thread on it - perhaps it just needs to be
screwed back into the top?

Ideas?

Access to that pivot bolt requires removal of the mirror's base from the
door. It's fairly easy - one allen screw on top of the base, near the
window.

The pivot may have just come loose, or, one or both of the two plastic
spacers inside, which sit at each end of a heft spring,  may have broken or
disintegrated. You'll find that out when you remove the mirror.

Just a quick follow-up.  It turned out to be remarkably easy to fix.
I removed the whole assembly from the door (it hung by the wires) and
used a pair of needlenose pliers to screw the brass attachment back
into the top.  5 minutes and it was as good as new!
