I'd suggest talking to your local service advisor and asking for the
three best and three worst.
There are lots of sources --- credit unions, banks, perhaps your auto
insurance company.
The criteria I used for peace of mind was:
1. Coverage (some of the coverage was weird, one policy specifically
excluded any damage caused by bad gas, or failure of a fastener)
2. Advocacy (who would advocate for me if I had a policy problem ---
who had a stake in me as a customer for instance, the dealer, the
credit union)
3. Service advisor recommendation (or recommendation of a shop)
4. Price , I did not find the most expensive the best policy. On a
M-B I shopped a GE Warranty between three dealers, there was an $800
swing)
Financial stability of the company is important, but I found it
difficult to assess.
Bottom line --- GE has the most widely sold warranty; mark up is over
30%. It's the safest,, not always the most beneficial.

I have done some research on this subject and the best source of information is ùwere not the ones selling the warranty.
