Hi there, i am interested in purchasing an early 70's model 911, are there
any good web sites explaining the differences between the years and the
models eg. 911T/E/S?
I have heard that the early ones (1970-73) are a better choice than the late
70's as these had engine problems? any comments?
thanks for any info.

There's the Wade Guthrie FAQ at www.pelicanparts.com, and early car
registry sites abound and have good info. The 74-77 cars are notorious
for problems with the US version of the 2.7L engine, but the SC
(1978-1983) and Carrera 3.2 (1984-1989) are much more reliable.

The early '70 models 911 T/E/S were produced from model year 1970 through
1973. 1970 and '71 models were 2.2 litre engines and featured 125, 155 and
180 hp respectively.
The 1972 and '73 models were 2.4 litres and 130, 165 and 190 hp.
www.rennlist.com
has forums devoted to specific Porsche models and also technical issues - it
can be a good source of info on early models and any problems associated
with them.
