Well, im thinking about a porsche 911, but I think im too young for one.
Your thoughts?  I can afford the car, I just dont know about insurance.

Depending on the condition of the car I'd worry more about repairs etc.

I bought my 911 at age 21 after I graduated from college.  Go for it!
As long as you have had a safe driving record so far, some companies
will actually go easy on you for insurance (I have GEICO and found
their rates reasonable even for being 21 with a Porsche).

Put it in your parent's name.  You can never be too young or too old for
a Porsche.  Just make sure when you find one to take it to the Porsche
Dealer and have it checked out for about $300.  It would be the best
money you ever spent.

You really don't know about the insurance unless you ask.  So ask!  State
Farm has a monthly payment plan, so you don' t have to pay all at once.
They spread it out over the year.

Whatever you get make sure to have it checked out by a good mechanic who
knows the cars.  And, be prepared for repairs and other things that cost way
more than a normal car.  Hell, a 911 uses a "case' of oil when you change
it.  Buy the best car you can afford, and I wouldn't go lower than a '78, if
you buy a 911.  Do some research.  Read some books.  Every model has its
quirks, weaknesses and strengths.

Have fun.

Good Luck! If you were in the UK you would be uninsurable aged under 23 - I
have heard of under 25's getting insurance quotes for the equivalent of
$10,000 +.
Make sure you leave yourself enough cash each month for running costs and
unexpected repairs , if that's not stating the obvious.

I won't tell you what to do, but if I had bought a Porsche at 22, I wouldn't
have made 23.

If you're smart, life is long enough to do everything you want to do.  If
you're not, it's not.

If you want to go fast, spend your insurance money on drivers school and
learn how to drive.  That will make you realize that you don't want to go
fast on the street, you'll go racing, and you'll have a happy life.

Very well said, For my son's birthday I gave a two day drivers ed.
event sponsored by PCA in our region, in my 87 944na, and we still
can't get him to shut up about it. It also gave him the insight into
his driving. We talked about driving stupid out on the streets,
agreeing that incredibly poor judgment is used by those of us who have
done this.
