Opinions on the 1995 911 3.2 convertible? My friends father is getting rid
of his 911 and I think it's a fair price but want some opinions. I've
actually always wanted a later Targa but thought I'd get myself started. The
car has 60'000 kms on it and is in decent shape "Some stone chips and a spot
where it was keyed". He's asking $20'000 CDN is this fair? I've looked at a
lot of older stuff for $12'000 - $22'000, just not sure what the resale on
the convertible would be like?

It's hard to say, of course, since prices vary widely by region and
dependent on general condition, but $20000 CDN sounds like it's probably
a good deal if it's mechanically sound and rust free.
Even if it's a close friend, it's worth your while to get a PPI
(Pre-Purchase Inspection) by a Porsche mechanic. Also, you should at
least check newspaper ads or internet ads for similar cars in your area
to be sure. Good luck!

3.2 cab? Did they make one? Is it not a 3.6? Is this a 1985 cab? If
it's an 85, the price is less than great. If it's a 1995, that's an
outstanding deal that you should move on. That's ~$17,000 US.

CORRECTION the car is a 3.6L and if my research is right has 270 HP and a
manual six speed. Next question does anyone chip the 3.6 L engines, is it
worth it? I've never had a "daily driver" that has this much HP and honestly
it will probably only come out in nice weather as I have enough other cars
to get me through the other stuff.

You can chip it for about 12-15 HP. Exhaust and other minor mods will
get another 2-5 HP, but that's about all yer gonna get.
So, it's a 95 993. Yes, $20,000 CDN is an excellent price. Jump on it.

Getting way ahead of myself here but is there any reason that the 911/993
can't be turbo charged? Are there kits available for this? Or has Porsche
already taken the 993 to the edge?

It's close enough to the edge to not warrant a turbo upgrade. You'd
have to do a pile more to make the rest of the car handle the turbo
correctly. Suffice to say: If you want a turbo, buy a real 911 Turbo.
BTW: People do supercharger upgrades, too. ;~P
