My 1989 911 Carrera failed the provincial emissions idle test. The Carbon
Monoxide %level was 1.08, and the maximum allowable level is .73. Last year
the car passed the test with a reading of  .41. I've seen an online add for
a additive substance called "KickGas" that is guaranteed to produce positive
results. Does anyone have any advice concerning the effectiveness of such
products and the risk involved in trying them?

If the car passed with .41 a year ago, and then went to 1.08, I'd be more
concerned with finding out what the problem is than whether an additive will
hide it.  I have a Subaru that passed every year and then failed.  Turned
out to be a dirty contact on the oxygen sensor.  Might be something really
simple on the Porsche, too.

I agree. I don't think the solution to your problem comes from a bottle.

I just used something that was gaurenteed to make your vehicle pass or
double your money back.  I got it a pep boys.  Run it thru a tank of gas and
refill your tank and it passed with flying colors.  My HC's were 118
(passinmg was 95) and after it was at 78.

I agree as well....it's not out of a bottle.

I recommend checking the Oxygen sensor.  best priced ones are on

If you haven't driven your 911 and it has been sitting a while before
the emission inspection it may not pass.  Take it out for a nice long
drive before your next inspection and you'll see the difference!

It's good advice and I know things can get slow around here, but you've
just replied to a two year old post.
