My new 997 C4cab is producing huge amounts of brake dust. Is this normal
with new Porsche pads? Will they settle down after a few thousand miles?

Congrats on the new 997! Actually, the amount of dust doesn't change
very much during the life of the pad once they're seated in -- maybe
about a week's worth of driving. It depends on the pad material and how
you use your brakes. I've used Pagid, Mintex, Jurid and a couple of
others, but I've finally settled on Ferodo. I do the occasional track
event (DE, not racing) and find that they work reliably even when very
hot, that the wear rate is acceptable, and the brake dust minimal. I
thought that the Pagid pads (which were OEM on my car) seemed to produce
more dust than some of the others.

I used those on my Honda 'cycle and found them to be excellent. The Frau
and I don't drive the 996 aggressively enough to justify anything more than
stock, but Ferodo do make good pads
