Refurbishing fuel injectors

I'm in the process of replacing the plastic caps on my injectors.
Several are cracked and one is miising a large piece. However, I have
some questions.
The kits I got from Bosch have three O-rings but the injector ony has
two. Am I missing something?
I removed the square metal clips before I got the fuel rail off. I
assume they clip back into the pair of grooves cut into the injector,
rather than the larger groove that runs all the way around the injector
just above the point where it enters the rail. Is this correct? What is
the purpose of these clips anyway?
While I have the injectors out of the car, is there anything else I
should check? Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

If you're going to service the injectors, they should also be
ultrasonically cleaned, and if you're going to spend that much money, throw
them away and get new ones.

I agree that have them cleaned and flow tested is a good thing to do,
especially given the age of these cars.  I don't agree that injectors should
simply be tossed and replaced.  Marren does good work.

Yes, but replacement injectors are cheaper than the cleaning work: At
least, they are here.
